Super Green Smoothie

Smoothies do from time to time replace or act as my breakfast, but before I give you this great green smoothie recipe let me just say that I do not recommend a smoothie every day for breakfast, only once or twice a week. Variety is key to our health so we should try to have a different breakfast every day. This particular smoothie is great as a mid morning or after lunch snack, particularly post workout and good when enjoyed with a little bowl of my banana granola.

Ingredients (Serves 2):

1 Frozen banana (peel and store overripe bananas in your freezer)

1 Tablespoon of hemp seeds

1 Avocado

1 Tablespoon of kefir yoghurt (coconut if vegan)

1 Tablespoon of chlorella powder

2-3 cups of cold water

Method: Blitz in a blender or nutribullet!

Benefits: this combines the essential macro nutrients; fat, protein and carbs, but more importantly boosts your micro nutrients. You will find gut healthy ingredients combined with anti-inflammatory Omega 3’s and a huge range of vitamins and minerals, including B12, iron, vit C, magnesium, calcium, potassium, folic acid and vit E. Chlorella and avocado provide the full protein source of all 9 amino acids so this smoothie really does deliver ‘super’ ingredients for your wellbeing.
