Gaba Cookies
Ingredients:
2 small bananas
3 tablespoons of tahini
1 tablespoon of hemp seeds
1 tablespoon of maple syrup
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
Handful of dried blueberries
Handful of dark chocolate chips (optional)
1 heaped cup of oats
Method: line a baking tray with baking paper and preheat oven to 160 degrees. In a mixing bowl mash the bananas with vanilla and maple syrup. Add the tahini, oats, blueberries and choc chips so you have a thick sticky paste. Spoon small cookie shaped dollops and flatten onto baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes, until the underneath of each cookie is golden brown.
These store well in tupperware for a few days. Blueberries, hemp seeds, tahini bananas and oats are foods that support the soothing activity of the neurotransmitter, GABA, and include B6 and magnesium. These are brilliant for those that can struggle with emotional regulation - they feed us calm messaging to the nervous system!
